Hair Loss & Fibromyalgia
If the hair is oily, a hair rinse is better. For dry hair, a creamy conditioner may be used. Leave-on conditioners are also available. Apart from these, you would need hair oil, herbal hair tonic and hair pack. One should select products containing herbs like amla, reetha, brahmi, bhringaraj, arnica, trifala, hibiscus (gurhal or javakusuma), bael, neem, sandalwood, etc.

Now I’m keeping my hair shorter so the grow-out isn’t as obvious (I need to update my photo – it’s much shorter now.) If you’ve wondered about hard little bumps on your scalp that come off when scratched, I read an explanation of that somewhere. I don’t know how accurate it is, but the claim was that natural oils collect in empty follicles after the hair falls out, and new growth pushes them out. The site suggested adding jojoba to shampoo to get rid of them, but I haven’t tried it. I’d love to hear from someone who has! Have you had hair loss with your fibromyalgia?

When you apply it twice per day, topical minoxidil can help preserve the hair you have and can even regrow hair. The only catch is you have to keep using it indefinitely. Also, topical minoxidil can cause itching, dryness, and scalp irritation, which you can combat by conditioning every time you shampoo your hair. Another option is to try a hair transplant – a technique that moves hair follicles from a thicker part of the scalp to a thinning patch. However, because of the widespread pattern of hair loss in women, hair transplants may not be as effective at permanently restoring hair as they are in men, Tsao says. The procedure also can be expensive, costing several thousand dollars, depending upon the amount of hair being transplanted.
